Telemidi Platform Overview

The Telemidi Platform provides the digital environment where simultaneous musical collaboration takes place. It connects performers, creators, educators, and industry partners through a unified system that supports simultaneous interaction across distance. The platform manages identity, session coordination, data transport, and the integration of applications built on top of TEMPO.

Key points:

  • The Platform is the host environment
  • It provides account management, access control, and session coordination
  • It is the home for all applications, beginning with Decksi
  • It is built for scalability, decentralisation, and creative interoperability

What is TEMPO?

TEMPO is the patent-pending protocol that powers simultaneous musical interaction across the Telemidi Platform. TEMPO transports MIDI performance information rather than audio data which reduces the impact of latency, yet enables each location to generate its own high-resolution audio output. TEMPO preserves timing, feel, and musical intention, enabling remote collaborators to perform together with responsiveness and clarity.

Everything a creator needs =
connected, protected and monetised.

Ringfenced Community

The community thrives and we monitor all creative output to maximise profits and to ensure artistic accountability.

Monetise

Surrounding these services are the tools that empower creators to earn, produce and protect their work.

Services

All applications and services function on and around TEMPO, to allow creators to collaborate, perform and engage in new ways.

The Engine

The core foundation is the TEMPO, our patent-pending sync engine driving all interactions.

How the Platform Works

The Telemidi Platform enables collaborators to connect from different locations and interact through simultaneous musical performance. It manages identity, timing, data flow, and application access so that creators, educators, researchers, and industry partners can work within a unified environment.

What Happens During a Session

When two or more people collaborate through Telemidi, their performance actions are transmitted as MIDI data. The Platform and TEMPO work together to align these actions so collaborators can respond to each other with clarity and precision. Each location generates its own audio output, ensuring high quality sound without the limits of streaming large audio files.

Connection Pathways

The Platform evaluates available network routes and selects pathways that support stable, low latency interaction. This allows collaborators in different regions to work together more effectively, regardless of distance.

Why This Matters

Telemidi reduces technical friction so collaborators can focus on musical intention. By managing timing, synchrony, and performance data, the Platform creates an environment where creativity and responsiveness are preserved across distance.

Research and Industry Alignment

International testing

Telemidi has been tested across national and international network paths to validate simultaneous performance under diverse conditions.

 Research lineage

The Platform design is informed by doctoral research into distributed performance, synchrony, and human centred interaction.

Industry alignment

The architecture supports use across music, education, research, and other creative or technical environments.

Applications built on the Telemidi Platform use TEMPO to support simultaneous musical interaction. These applications can serve performers, DJs, educators, game developers, health researchers, wellness providers, and cultural organisations. Decksi is the first application built on the platform and demonstrates how TEMPO enables remote back-to-back DJ collaboration.

Decksi

Decksi, the first application built on the Telemidi Platform, enables DJs in different locations to perform simultaneous back-to-back sets with each other. Each DJ’s actions are mirrored at the other location by using the TEMPO protocol, and a “zero-latency” feed can be streamed to audiences in both traditional venues and online immersive spaces. Decksi supports seamless collaborative mixing, shared control, and synchronised musical intention across distance, to create a unified performance from separate locations.
